Savages Movie Review

Movie: Savages

Release Date: July 2012

Starring: Taylor Kitsch, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Salma Hayek, Benicio Del Toro, Blake Lively, John Travolta.

Savages! When you say the word, say it with your meanest voice like you're ready to kill. Lol, let's go.

The Oliver Stone directed film centres around two Laguna Beach entrepreneurs Ben (Johnson), a peaceful and charitable Buddhist, and his closest friend Chon (Kitsch) a former navy SEAL, who run a lucrative, homegrown industry-raising some of the best marijuana ever developed. The pair also share a one of a kind love with Ophelia (Lively).

For some reason the film could have done away with Blake Lively's poor acting skills. I hated her voice, her expressions, her... I just can't imagine her outside of Gossip Girls. I mean, I would've preferred Jennifer Love Hewitt or Olivia Wilde to play Ophelia's role.

As the movie unfolds, everything goes haywire when Kingpin Elena (Hayek) decides to move in and demands partnership, and somewhat takeover the lucrative marijuana industry.

You would assume after reviewing three Mexicans drama films I'd get use to the bloody deaths, but nooope! I can never get use to seeing a man's decapitated body. But that's what drives the suspense; you'll be entangled in the superb plot, and too excited to look away.

If you're looking for high intense drama, big guns, gruesome deaths and threesomes; Savages is perfect for you. I gave it a 7/10.
